Contemporary Large Outdoor Sculpture - Big Landscape Sculptures

I love that happy soaring feeling I experience when I see a large sculpture.

Aluminum is a wonderful material with which to create large outdoor metal sculptures. It is relatively easy to cut and shape and eventually one learns how to weld it. The surface forms a natural oxide that protects the underlying metal from further oxidation. It is an ideal material for forming outdoor garden art sculpture. If a tiny pinhole is in a weld, or a defect develops in the paint, it won't rust, as do steel sculptures.

Aluminum alloys can be very soft (pure aluminum) to the very strong rigid materials used to build airplanes, cars and boats. It is about one-half the weight of steel, which makes it easier to handle. I use the strong, structural 1/8" aluminum for my outdoor metal sculptures.

Bronze is a wonderful metal for outdoor sculptures and was the metal of choice for the Greeks and Romans. Their bronze sculptures have lasted for thousands of years.
